While FieldDesk can be implemented with the default settings, FieldDesk can also be customized to fit the way your company does business.

Some available customizations are:

  • PDF Forms: Technicians can preview a form as a pdf before printing or submitting the work order.
  • Enable Time and Materials: The Add Repair button in the Repair Est. tab defaults to flat rate.  By enabling time and materials, the Add Repair button invokes a pop-up dialogue that allows the technician to choose between parts, labor, miscellaneous items, or flat rate repairs.
  • Adjustable Receipt Width: The receipt can be printed any width, up to 8 inches.  This is especially useful if your company uses 4” printers in the field.
  • Labor Description: By default, the labor listed in the Repair Est. tab shows “Labor – Standard Rates” no matter the type of labor.  This option changes the description of a labor line item to reflect the type of labor from the labor rate table. The labor description can also be suppressed so no labor description dropdown is available.
  • Parts Used: The Parts Used tab can be disabled on FieldDesk for companies who use T/M repairs only.  Flat Rate repairs are also disabled.
  • Field Pricing: The default setting shows the technician  the price of a repair in the field.  This feature can be disabled.  By disabling field pricing, the Repair Est. tab becomes Work Detail, which also does not show the prices to the customer.
  • Repair Estimate: By default, the prices are shown on the repair estimate tab.  This customization allows those prices to be hidden on the repair estimate for Bill Out orders by changing the Repair Est. tab to Work Detail.  For C.O.D. orders, the Repair Est. tab doesn’t change.
  • Pen/Stylus options: In cases in which the technician does not have a touch screen (using a laptop, for example), a customer would not be able to sign electronically.  This option lets FieldDesk know that, and all signature lines become typing prompts.
  • Sales Tax: By default, FieldDesk does not calculate sales tax.  If your company charges sales tax, this feature enables sales tax on parts.
  • Receipt Footer: This option allows your company to include a footer on every receipt print out.
  • Sign on Forms: By default, FieldDesk requires a customer signature to accept the proposal of work or the work completed, and the payment.  With this customization, a signature on a form will count as either or both the acceptance of the proposal and acceptance of payment.
  • Disable Stocking Location: By default, your technician can pick the stocking location from which they took a part, so if they took one from main stock without transferring the part to their truck in FieldOPS, they can specify that the part is from the main stocking location as opposed to their own truck. With this customization, you can disable the technician’s ability to specify stocking location on parts used.
  • Flat Rate Quantity: By default, your technicians can change the quantity on the flat rate repairs. If you would rather they not have that ability, we can customize FieldDesk for you.
  • Mark Up Tables: If you use mark-up tables for your repair prices, we can customize your FieldDesk so that your technicians can put in a price of a miscellaneous item and have the cost marked-up to the customer’s price automatically.
  • Custom Work Acceptance Text: We can change the text that appears in the signature box on the Work Detail or Payments tab to whatever you would like it to say.
  • Multiple Quote Builder: If you want your technicians to offer your customers “good,” “better,” & “best” repair estimates, FieldDesk has an option to allow it.  With this customization, you can build up to six quotes for the customer to choose.  Once they pick one, you can copy that quote over to the Repair Estimate tab and continue using FieldDesk as usual.
  • Get Helper Work Order: This allows the helper technician to request his own helper ticket from the field instead of requiring someone in the office to dispatch the helper ticket to him.
  • Show Center: Shows the Center Code (helpful for companies who have multiple centers) of the work order on the FieldDesk Assignments screen.
  • Show Estimated Repair Hours: Allows the CAP Estimated Repair hours for Flat Rate Codes to be seen.
  • Include Part Mfg: Allows the Mfg. to show on the parts lookup view.
  • Include AKA Number: Allows the AKA number to show on the parts lookup view.
  • Disable Payments: If your technicians never collect in the field or get a signature upon completion of work, the payments tab can be disabled.
  • Show Estimated Hours: Allows the work order estimated hours to show on the Assignments screen.
  • Show Time Slot: Allows the work order timeslot number at time of dispatch to show on the Assignments screen.
  • Suppress Tech Notes: Allows the tech notes entered on the Problem tab to only show as a work order note in FieldOPS and not be printed on the receipt.
  • Button Labels: The Tech Note button on the Problem tab and the Special Instructions note button on the Repair Estimate tab can be renamed to your own specifications.
  • Service Report Required: When enabled, requires a Service Report Form to be created when new line items are added.
  • Show Alternate Equipment Number and/or System Equipment Number: Allows the Alt. Eqp. Nbr and/or the FieldOPS System Eqp. Nbr of customer equipment on the equipment tab.
  • Equipment Required: Requires the tech to choose a piece of Equipment when entering a line item. If no equipment is available, the tech must add equipment in the equipment tab and then reenter the line item in order to make an equipment selection.
  • View Equipment notes/attachments: Allows notes or attachments on customer equipment to be accessed from the field (based on your fdGateway System Values customer viewable/non-customer viewable settings).
  • Customer Attachments: Allows the tech to see Customer attachments in the FieldDesk Work Order Attachments tab (based on your fdGateway System Values customer viewable/non-customer viewable settings).
