Using Work Queues

FieldDesk and FieldOPS use work queues to organize your work flow, and to replace the piles of paper that move from one desk to the next.

You can create a work queue for any purpose: submitted work orders, work orders with purchase orders, cash in transit, etc.

One way to use work queues is to set up a queue for each employee or process in the same way you would normally send paper from person to person.

Example 1:

A work order starts in the Submitted Work Orders queue.

An administrator reviews the work order, and upon finding a purchase order request, moves the work order to the Purchasing department’s work queue.

The purchasing department processes the purchase order.  Once the order comes in, the purchasing department moves the work queue to the dispatcher’s queue to reassign the work order.

The dispatcher reassigns the work order, and then marks the work order as processed.

Example 2:

A work order starts in the Submitted Work Orders queue.

An administrator reviews the work order, and she finds it is complete with no errors.  She moves the work order to the billing department’s work queue.

The billing department double checks the FieldOPS register, finds no errors, and sends an invoice to the customer.  Then, the billing department marks the work order processed.
